This.. is.. life. We win some, we lose some. We get out, we get in. Suffering is just one of the many things we humans go through in life.
Phew.. I can't actually believe I survived in the Youth Leadership Program(YLP) . Ever since the first day, My brother and I have been strongly disagreeing to go for this program. But I knew we stand no chance. I have been a speaker for quite a while in my school class, but this is different. This was delivering speeches in English. But for me who suited in a Mandarin school, and used to speaking in Mandarin, it will be quite a while before I get back my place as an English speaker again. At least throughout the 3 days I managed to learn the basic elements of Public Squeeking.. er.. I meant Speaking. And.. onoz I was one of the youngest there. :O. That didn't sound good, as I don't have many friends who are older than me, but I managed. o.o Now I can add more friends to my facebook Friend List :O
However, it didn't really matter since it's all over. Let me relate some of the stories on those 3 days. =X
On the first day, we were asked to make an introduction of ourselves to our neighbor. And so it was that my neighbor that day was the one and only Jack Sparrow, pirate of the Seven Seas. It was then I made my first speech of the day, and it was in English. So the only similarities I can find in him is that we both like Black.. and we both like to play the famous Real-time Strategy game DotA. I could tell that it was quite a disaster. Slowly but surely, I can feel my English speaking skills are improving, like a tortoise. Then whatever I wished for went quite the opposite. Instead of listening to more introduction of speaking, all participants had to speak again. Yes it was an ice breaker session. What a way to break the ice. I didn't give out most of my personal data and inner-secrets though. ;)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! MAKE IT STOP!@%^@#%@^
Once the first day was over, my brother rushed to the computer before I did, so I had no other choice than to prepare my assignment for the following day.
On Year 2009 12th of December (Saturday) man that was unnecessary =.=".. as I was saying.. My brother and I walked to Summit and so on and so on.. I really lmao-ed on Chris' invocation, a joke on three hikers granted a wish each as the third hiker yelled "Shit!" and made his wish.. Even as he didn't finish the joke, all of us could already predict the ending. It was too obvious. And I thought it could be a better day than the day before, but to start the day off, I was the first to deliver my speech. Thank God I had time to prepare. It was a speech entitled: Getting rich quickly, although my evaluator got my title quite wrong.. it doesn't matter, though. It was delivered and done.
On the final day, the day of the competition, days of all days, day when this will all end,...............
just when things could get worse, I was picked fifth in line for the competition. OF ALL THE PEOPLE YOU COULD CHOOSE@!#$%^&^%$#@ who cares :O. It has been decided. For warm-up session, I just got myself a cup of coffee.. that would do very nicely. As for the speech, I used an old title which I failed to speak of before.. yes it's technology. I got tortured by my brother on table topics.. for that. It's already very obvious indeed that I wasn't qualified for a prize yet. There are many and maaaaannnyyyy who are better than me by a hundred times.. for example huh.. Hann Lam.. my bradder.. Chris.. and many more. These people make me look like nothing. :O
No seriously..I'm quite glad to have the opportunity of joining this program.. the experience of public speaking.. experience of getting to know more friends.. as I said in my speech.. computer games may have a possible social effect on areas such as academic performance.. so I don't really socialize with others much.. ESPECIALLY those older than me..
Nuff said,
Seth
